Closing Out National Recovery Month
On this last day of National Recovery Month, I want to share with you how much this monthly calendar designation means to me. The clip below is from a webinar earlier this month, hosted by Becky Robinson, CEO of Weaving Influence. You can watch the entire conversation where we talked more about recovery and how the principles of recovery enhance our leadership.

Here are some principles I learned in recovery that I now hold as part of my leadership framework.
→ My effectiveness as a leader depends on my ability to embrace HOW: Being Honest, Open-minded, and Willing.
→ HALT: Don’t get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired.
→ ODAT: Taking things One Day at a Time doesn’t preclude me from making plans, but it does help me focus on what’s most important each day and allows me to deepen my presence each day.
→ Keeping an Attitude of Gratitude reminds me to appreciate all that I’ve been given, and all that I have to give.
Beautiful, simple principles anyone can use.
I’m glad National Recovery Month highlights the possibilities available to anyone suffering from an addiction, as well as the support available for their families and friends.
